November is lung cancer awareness month…
By the end of this year, it’s estimated that over 130,000 lives will be lost to lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.
Among those who were lost was Dana Potter, a familiar voice on Southern Tier radio for over 40 years and beloved friend of many in the community. Dana had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help, even if it meant giving the shirt off his own back. He loved being a Grandpa adoring on his 4 grandchildren, always ready to share a picture or story. He also loved cruising in the warm, Caribbean islands.
For over 2 years, Dana fought this killer with great strength and dignity. He also became a proponent for early detection by encouraging others who were at risk to get a CT scan.
It is in Dana’s honor and memory that we ask for your donation to The American Lung Association during November, lung cancer awareness month. They are the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing disease through education, advocacy, and research. All of the money raised will be donated to ALA.
