Hey! It’s Lisa Cruz from The Magic Morning show with Dana & Lisa! I went and visited with Dave Hamburg, The Regional Public Information Officer with NYSDOT this week and learned more about road construction projects going on here in the Southern Tier! Also had a chance to catch some interviewing with Jack Williams, Region 9 Regional Director with NYSDOT and learned more on  Southern Tier Soaring. It was a great day of learning about how our area is becoming more beautified and easier to travel in ..so in return it will attract more businesses and jobs for our hometown!

Plus I had a little fun on the construction site on Front St in Binghamton by having a chance to sit in a crane and met some GREAT New York State Troopers from Troop C in the TIM department, Traffic Incident Management , who keep those working on these projects safe from those speeding thru construction areas! Thank you so much, Officers, for your service!

Dave Hamburg-

In May of 2016, Governor Cuomo announced the beginning of Phase II of the $150 Prospect Mountain Construction Project, which is one of the largest construction projects in upstate New York.  The work being done, once complete, will enhance traffic patterns in one of the Southern Tier’s busiest travel and commerce corridors.  It’s all part of Southern Tier Soaring, which is the state’s multi-faceted investment in the region.

Additionally, Governor Cuomo’s Southern Soaring initiative directly contributes to the community’s quality of life.  From a New York Department of Transportation perspective we point to what the Prospect Mountain Construction project and infrastructure like the Route 434 Greenway.

Accelerating Southern Tier Soaring Project:

Today’s announcement complements “Southern Tier Soaring the region’s comprehensive blueprint to generate robust economic growth and community development. The State has already invested more than $3.1 billion in the region since 2012 to lay for groundwork for the plan – attracting a talented workforce, growing business and driving innovation. Today, unemployment is down to the lowest levels since before the Great Recession; personal and corporate income taxes are down; and businesses are choosing places like Binghamton, Johnson City and Corning as a destination in which to grow and invest.

Now, the region is accelerating Southern Tier Soaring with a $500 million State investment through the Upstate Revitalization Initiative, announced by Governor Cuomo in December 2015. The State’s $500 million investment will incentivize private business to invest well over $2.5 billion – and the region’s plan, as submitted, projects up to 10,200 new jobs.
