A Father Accidentally Shut Down His Town’s Internet, While Trying to Limit His Kids’ Screentime

If you have kids, you’ve probably gone to extreme lengths to TRY to limit their screen time.  And has ANYTHING worked?

A man in France was desperate enough to try using a multi-wave band jammer to temporarily cut off the internet connection at his house.  But he didn’t just cut off the internet to his place… he shut it down for the WHOLE TOWN.

“Jammers” interfere with telecommunication signals, and they’re illegal in France… as well as in the U.S.  Still, people get caught using them all the time.

It’s unclear what went wrong, but once they traced the outage back to this guy, he was arrested.  He’s looking at six months in jail, and a fine of up to $34,000.

He told the police it was an accident… he was trying to block the internet to his house, between the hours of midnight and 3:00 A.M. so that his kids would GO TO BED.  It’s unclear if he’ll catch a break, or get the maximum punishment.
